Super-soft CP violation

A bstract Solutions of the Strong CP Problem based on spontaneous breaking must feature a non-generic structure and simultaneously explain coincidence between priori unrelated CP-even CP-odd mass scales. We show that these properties can emerge from gauge invariance CP-conserving, but otherwise generic, physics at Planck scale. In our scenarios no fundamental scalar is introduced beyond Standard Model Higgs doublet, broken naturally small scales by confining non-abelian dynamics. This approach remarkably predictive: robustness against uncontrollable UV corrections to QCD topological angle requires one or more families vector-like quarks below few 10’s TeV, hence potentially accessible colliders. Because violation communicated SM super-soft scales, solution not spoiled presence heavy new states motivated other puzzles in Model. addition, models generically predict dark sector may lead interesting cosmological signatures.
